Consultations and Screenings

• During a consultation, the clinician and parent/guardian will discuss questions/areas of concern for their child and determine if screening, evaluation, or treatment is an appropriate next step. Consultations are available via phone or virtual meeting.

• A speech-language screening is a brief assessment of skills that are expected to be developed or developing based on your child’s age. A screening is used to determine if a comprehensive evaluation is recommended. Screenings are available in-person or virtually.

• Consultations and screenings are free of charge and typically last 15-20 minutes.

• A speech-language evaluation consists of the following: standardized and/or informal assessments, formal and informal observations, and clinical judgment. A speech-language evaluation is required in order to begin treatment.

• A prior/outside speech-language evaluation or an Individualized Education Program (IEP) completed within the past 12 months will be accepted in place of an evaluation conducted by Clear Connections Speech and Language.

• Evaluations are available in-person and virtually and typically last 1 hour.

• A potential treatment plan (duration, frequency, long-term and short-term goals, and any additional recommendations) will be determined based on results of the evaluation.

• Clear Connections Speech and Language strives to provide individualized, strengths-based treatment that considers the needs of both the client and his/her family.

• Treatment sessions are available in-person or virtually. Frequency and duration will be determined on a case-by-case basis depending on clinician recommendation.
